About
Established in 2004 by a diverse group of academics, London Centre for Social Studies (LCSS) operates as a key civic organisation to promote and coordinate social research in areas related to Turkish Speaking Communities in Europe and Turkey-EU relations. These include but not limited to the following areas:
International Relations and Politics
Citizenship, Migration and Minority Integration
Human Rights and Social Equality
Education
Media
History and Literature
Economy and Finance
The centre seeks to generate thinking and debate amongst academics, activists, policy-makers, practitioners, media and civil society organisations both at national and international levels. LCSS activities include public lectures, panel discussions, roundtables, conferences and workshops to forge links and build bridges between leading actors of the society and the wider public. Also through its community oriented projects, LCSS aims better understanding of the ethnic minority problems within the EU in general and the UK in particular. Specifically, LCSS plays a unique role in coordinating the communication between Turkey and EU based academics to initiate research collaborations on its specialisation areas, as well as providing guidance for early career researchers.
